Alex Kirwan has worked in animation since 1997, variously as a character designer, storyboard artist and clean-up artist. On The Mighty B!, he directed two episodes during the second season alongside Erik Wiese.


From Duluth, Minnesota,[1] Kirwan started his career fresh out of high school working on Johnny Bravo.[2]

He worked on My Life as a Teenage Robot as an art director.[3] Later, he won an Emmy Award for his work on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.[4]

Kirwan continued work as an art director, on cartoons such as Wander Over Yonder[5] in addition to designing characters for the DuckTales reboot.[6]

As of 2019, he served as a supervising producer for Looney Tunes Cartoons.[7]

  • Kirwan was caricatured three times in the series: first as man disguised as a puppy in "Bee Nice,"[8] a bee in "Hive of Darkness," and finally appeared in human form alongside his real life wife in "B-Chip."[9]
  • He earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for directing on the series.[10]
