Larry Leichliter (born May 1941)[1] is a longtime animator, active in the industry since 1975. On The Mighty B!, he co-directed all 39 episodes of the show's first season, alongside co-creator Erik Wiese. In addition to his directorial duties, Leichliter also served as supervising timing director.[2]
Career
Born in Los Angeles, California,[1] Leichliter got started in the animation industry in 1975 animating on several Peanuts specials. He continued working on them through the early 1990s.[3]
During the mid-1990s, Leichliter was a character artist on several Don Bluth films, before becoming an animation director for several Nicktoons, including Hey Arnold!,[4] The Fairly OddParents[5] and ChalkZone.[6]
By the 2010s he directed episodes of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Adventure Time for Cartoon Network. Most recently, Leichliter served as a sheet timer on The Loud House.
For his work in animation, Leichliter has received five Emmy Award nominations; three as supervising director, one as animation director and another for sheet timing. He won his first Emmy in 2015 for directing Over the Garden Wall.[7]
