The Pawn Shop is an establishment owned and operated by The Hippie, which sells magic related memorabilia and pawned items. It debuted in the pilot episode, "So Happy Together," though the inside of the store remained unseen until "Blindsided."

Of the rooms seen, the checkout appears most often, where Bessie and Happy tend to speak with The Hippie regarding items of interest or simply to catch up.

Bessie and Happy are both frequent customers, with Ben also visiting the shop. It plays a large role in both "Blindsided" (where Happy pawns Bessie's glasses in exchange for a dog bone) and "Hen and Bappy," the latter having Ben and Happy switch bodies due to The Hippie serving them "magiquitos".

Features[]

The shop follows a green color scheme, with some unpainted red bricks visible. A yellow sign reads "Pawn $ Shop" in black text, the dollar sign encased within a green circle. The canopy holding the sign in place is pink, both light and dark shades of the color. More bricks are visible on the bottom of the store.

The entryway's steps are painted white, and the door itself is brown in color. A nearby brown light is visible, which is presumably turned on at night. Lastly, the window advertises several items of interest, most notably a white dog bone.

Inside the store, the wall and ceilings are painted light purple. The square floor tiles are the same shade of purple as well as red. Various items of interest are shown throughout the establishment, ranging from musical instruments (drum kits, guitars, etc.) to more obscure items like fake dog poo. The shop's magic related objects include magician's hats, wands and rabbit decoys.

There are two rooms seen aside from the checkout. One appears in the episode "O Say Can Bess See," where The Hippie stores magical eyeball posters, happily telling Bessie what they look like to him. Later, in "The League of Ordinary Gentlemen," Bessie discovers that The Hippie, Ben and Happy hold gentlemen meetings in a secret room whose door is encased with a lion's head.

Trivia[]

  • It should be noted that in episodes where magic is the focus, the shop's name is Magic Pawn Shop instead, as seen in "Hen and Bappy."
  • "Name Shame" shows The Hippie lives elsewhere, meaning the shop is not his home unlike Hilary's Café.
