The Hive is Bessie's primary hangout (she calls it a "hideout"), overlooking the top of her real home, and her mom's café. It first appeared in the pilot episode "So Happy Together," and was featured prominently as a reoccurring setting throughout the series.
Bessie often uses The Hive when doing menial tasks, such as organizing or preparing to write speeches ("To Bee or Not to Bee"). Other times, however, Bessie and her friends use it to brainstorm ideas or simply socializing.
It is most prominent in season 1's "Hive Jacked" and the season 2 episode "Hive of Darkness," where it is a major plot point in both episodes.

The Hive is yellow in color, and alluding to its name the structure has a honeycomb shape. Inside, there are a variety of objects visible, including a baby monitor, fossil collection, ham radio and Bessie's personal computer. A cactus is later seen in "Space Evaders."
Bessie has a desk that she uses for the computer or to write on. Additionally, one can order at Hilary's Café from The Hive, as it has a dumbwaiter leading to the hideout. In case of an emergency, there is also an escape hatch.
Gwen and Portia temporarily took ownership of The Hive after Bessie lost a bet in "Hive Jacked," but when they refused to give it up after 3 days had passed, Bessie and her friends managed to get The Hive back. Later, in "Hive of Darkness," Bessie is trapped in The Hive after the honeybees she helped raise are unwilling to let her move on after earning a beekeeping badge. Bessie is saved with Ben and Happy's help.
